After suffering a 51-41 loss in the opening round of the Lady Hornet Tournament just over 24 hours earlier, the Del Norte girls varsity basketball team shrugged off a rollercoaster start to post a 47-35 victory over the Corning Cardinals in a consolation bracket game Friday afternoon at Enterprise High School in Redding.
The Warriors got off to a quick start against the Cardinals, leading by five at the end of the opening quarter, before the Cardinals turned the tables, turning that five point deficit into a two-point lead of their own at halftime.
That was the extent of the momentum on the Cardinals side though, as the Warriors gave up just 10 points in the entire second half and ultimately cruising to the victory. Jadence Clifton led the Warriors with a game-high 36 points in the contest.
Although it may not have been on the side of the bracket either team would have envisioned or preferred at the beginning of the tournament, the Warriors will face the tournament host Enterprise Hornets in the consolation championship game Saturday with tip-off scheduled for noon.
