The Del Norte boys varsity basketball team broke open what had been a close game over the first three quarters and cruised to a 61-47 victory over the Phoenix Pirates Thursday afternoon at the Hidden Valley Tournament in Grants Pass. The Warrior boys will face Klamath Union Friday, with tip-off scheduled for 1:15, and then conclude the three day stretch with a matchup against the host Hidden Valley Mustangs Saturday. Tip-off of Saturday’s game is scheduled for 4 p.m.
On the girls’ side, the Warriors outlasted a methodical Eagle Point squad in their opener at the Hidden Valley Tournament Thursday, posting a 30-22 victory in a game in which the Eagle Point squad made full use of there being no shot clock in the state of Oregon. The Warrior girls will face Hidden Valley Friday beginning at 8 p.m. in what will be the second meeting between the two teams in less than two weeks. The Warrior girls then conclude play at the three-day event Saturday, when they face St Mary’s in a contest that tips off at 4:45 p.m.
